Musical Interludes
When the Goon Show first aired in 1951 there were strict rules at the BBC defining categories of programme. The Goon Show, originally called Crazy People, was deemed to be variety, and had to comply with rules that required there to be musical interludes and, indeed, how many minutes there could be between the musical interludes. Even when these restrictions were eased, the Goons continued to have two musical interludes per show.
The songs and instrumentals performed in each show are listed below. The list is for original transmission versions. One or two numbers may have been switched for Transcription Services or commercial releases.
