These must be the ultimate in commercial releases of the Goon Show. They started life CD box sets. There aren’t many new CDs still available, they’re all there in audiobook form though.

The Goon Show Compendium Volume One:
Series 5, Part 1

This volume includes: ‘The Whistling Spy Enigma’, ‘The Lost Gold Mine (of Charlotte)’, ‘The Dreaded Batter Pudding Hurler (of Bexhill-on-Sea)’, ‘The Phantom Head Shaver (of Brighton)’, ‘The Affair of the Lone Banana’, ‘The Canal’, ‘Lurgi Strikes Britain!’ (aka ‘Lurgi Strikes Again’), ‘The Mystery of the Marie Celeste (Solved)’, ‘The Last Tram (from Clapham)’, ‘The Booted Gorilla (Found?)’, ‘The Spanish Suitcase’, ‘Dishonoured’ (aka ‘The Fall of Neddie Seagoon’), and ‘Forog’. The Last Goon Show of All & More
This twelfth collection includes the episodes ‘China Story’, ‘Foiled by President Fred’, ‘Tales of Old Dartmoor’, ‘The Macreekie Rising of ’74’, ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Six Charlies in Search of an Author’, ‘Insurance – The White Man’s Burden’, ‘The Red Fort’ and ‘The Missing Ten Downing Street’ (aka ‘Ten Downing Street Stolen’), along with the 1972 reunion ‘The Last Goon Show of All’. Also included are numerous bonus archive items, including celebratory programmes Parkinson Meets The Goons and Heroes for a Time: 6 – The Goons. Here, too, are interviews and features taken from The Best of British Laughs: Peter Sellers, Robbie Vincent’s Late Night London, It Takes All Sorts and more, as well as extracts from unedited studio recordings and rehearsals.
The Goon Show Compendium Volume 13:
Early Show, Series 4, Part 1 & More
The 13th collection turns the clock back to the 1950s and the series’ earliest surviving recordings. The episodes included are ‘Harry Secombe Tracks Lo-Hing Ding’, ‘Handsome Harry Hunts for The Lost Drummer’, ‘The Failures of Handsome Harry Secombe’, ‘The Mystery of the Monkey’s Paw’, ‘The Man Who Tried to Destroy London’s Monuments’, ‘The Ghastly Experiments of Dr Hans Eidelburger’, and ‘The Missing Prime Minister’. Also featured are surviving extracts from ‘The Search for the Bearded Vulture’ and ‘The Giant Bombardon’. A host of bonus features are included in the collection, including the 1991 programme ‘At Last The Go On Show’, ‘Goon Again’ and ‘Just Before Goonrise’ from 2001, ‘Laughter in the Air’ from 1979, ‘Spike at 80’ from 1998, various extracts from Desert Island Discs, and much more.
A PDF booklet tells the story of the show’s development with reference to original archive paperwork, plus the history of the recordings.
The Goon Show Compendium Volume 14:
Series 4, Part 2
This 14th and final collection returns to the programme’s fourth series and includes the episodes ‘The History of Communications’, ‘The Kippered Herring Gang’, ‘The Tooth-Paste Expedition’, ‘The Case of the Vanishing Room’, ‘The Greatest Mountain in the World’, ‘Collapse of the British Railways Sandwich System’, ‘The Case of Agent X2’ (aka ‘The Silent Bugler’), ‘The Story of Brain’ (aka ‘Western Story’), ‘The Saga of the Internal Mountain’ and ‘Bank of England Robbery’. Also included is the special satirical show The Starlings, recorded without an audience or orchestra, plus radio programmes including Vivat Milligna!, Growing Up with the Goons and Radio Fun: The Story of Radio Comedy Part 7. Documentary extracts include items from Kaleidoscope and Dad Made Me Laugh, as well as ‘The Disconnected Thoughts of Chairman Spike’, featuring unused interview material from At Last the Go On Show.
